Beyoncé makes Grammy history with her win for the Best Dance/Electronic Music Album for "Renaissance" at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, Beyoncé is now the most awarded musician in recording academy history. She has now won 32 Grammys over the span of her career.

"I’m trying not to be too emotional, and I’m trying to just receive this night," she said during her acceptance speech. "I want to thank God for protecting me. … I’d like to thank my uncle Johnny, who’s not here, but he’s here in spirit." She thanked her parents, husband and three children before concluding, "I’d like to thank the queer community for your love and for inventing this genre."
Other major wins for the night included Viola Davis achieving EGOT status winning Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording. “I wrote this book to honor the 6-year-old Viola,” she said. “To honor her life, her joy, her trauma, everything. And, it has just been such a journey – I just EGOT!”
Kim Petras became the first trans woman to win a Grammy. Sam Smith and Petras 'Unholy' won for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance “Sam graciously wanted me to accept this award because I’m the first transgender woman to win this award,” she said, to cheers and many of the musicians in the crowd giving her a standing ovation. “I just wan to thank all of the incredible transgender legends before me who kicked these doors open before me so I could be here tonight. Sophie, my friend who passed away two years ago, who told me this would happen and always believed in me. Thank you so much for you inspiration, Sophie. I adore you, and your inspiration will forever be in my music.”
Lizzo took home Record Of The Year for 'About Damn Time'. “This is so unexpected!” Lizzo proclaimed after taking the stage to accept the record of the year trophy from Coldplay’s Chris Martin. Lizzo dedicated the award win to Prince, explaining, “When we lost Prince I decided to dedicate my life to making positive music.” After feeling misunderstood as a young artist, “I wanted to make the world a better place, so I had to be that change, to make the world a better place.” She than gave a special thank you to Beyoncé, telling her “skipped school to see you perform” when she was a kid, and expressed her appreciation of her overall artistry. “Thank you so much. You clearly are the artist of our lives!”
The iconic album 'Renaissance', was also nominated for Album of the Year. However the night's biggest award was won by pop artist Harry Styles.
