With over 4.6 million global streams and 355.4 million TikTok views, "Big Mood" has undoubtedly caught listeners' attention worldwide. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the song and what it means to you, and how you feel about the overwhelming response to your music?
The inspiration behind Big Mood came from a space and place where I knew I needed a HIT. A female friend of mine told me about some shiesty things someone did to her over a guy, which inspired the first bar. I was also coming out of a long-term relationship, so stressing to the world that more men out here ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 500) stemmed from that. The response so far has truly been an eye-opener because so many women can relate.
It's impressive how you have garnered support from notable figures like Ari Fletcher, Glo Rilla, JT of City Girls, and Lakeyah. Do you feel the nature of co-sign culture benefits your brand from a business perspective?
Definitely, understanding the power of social media is important. I'm able to reach more and more listeners from other celebrity's and influencers' platforms. It's another tool for marketing, so it's been heavily beneficial being an independent artist.
Some of your influences include Jay-Z, Future, Drake, and Dreezy. How has their lyrical style impacted her own approach to music and storytelling?
I've always been into words, being creative with metaphors and similes. Those are a few who highlight those areas greatly. Not only are they good at storytelling, but they know how to create a vibe/song. Studying their come-up has been inspiring because it introduces me to the other lanes I can step into while keeping my sound.
Social media has played a significant role in promoting your music and connecting with your fans. Could you elaborate on how she strategically utilizes platforms like Instagram and TikTok to market her music?
I target trending sounds, study what hashtags are being used frequently, and use my lyrics as my main strategy because they are very relatable, so if someone likes them, they will want to hear more or find that song. I also break it down to the time and length of videos, which catch someone's attention span really fast.
You also emphasize the importance of staying true to oneself and overcoming obstacles through your music. What are some of the most discouraging challenges you've had to overcome? Have you been tempted by the "fake it till you make it" concept in your career?
The most discouraging challenges I had along the way to overcome were always financial and needing more funds to properly invest in my career. I've done a lot of stuff through being self-taught or just having a team of individuals who understood my vision. I don't see anything wrong with the fake it till you make it a scheme; I believe every artist has to start somewhere.
With plans to release an EP soon, what can fans expect from her upcoming project? Are there any specific themes or collaborations that you're excited about?
With this EP, you can expect to hear a sound from every angle. The production overall is far from a Big Mood feel; it warms up my fans to another side of Bri Trilla; it even has a hint of some r&b tunes; I want the features to stay a surprise.
How has your background and upbringing in Baxley, Georgia, influenced her artistic style and musical choices?
Growing up in Baxley really didn't influence my music desires. I come from a small town, and resources were limited, if any. Growing up there made me strive harder to make it out, and it helped me create music about where I made it from to where I'm going. I spent plenty of nights in my room learning about the music industry on my own.
With the ongoing Big Mood Tour, could you give us some insights into your live performances? What do you hope to achieve through her interactions with the audience during her shows?
Being on tour has been amazing; my live performances are always fun; it's literally somebody that knows the song; with it being a viral hit, it's always a lot of ppl know it, so they help sing along. I want to achieve more fans throughout the tour. It's always a good feeling to meet real supporters in person.
Looking ahead, what are your long-term goals and aspirations as an artist? How does she envision her career evolving in the future?
My long-term goal is to peak on billboards, a few number ones, and collaborations with a few more prominent artists; I want to build my brand to open other doors, like movie roles. I also want to have a successful record label of talented artists someday. As a student of the game, my music will be here for a while; I see my future being filled with timeless hits the more I perfect my craft.
