Brooklyn’s ArtxCityBK Gallery is set to host Love On Your Body, an electrifying all-womxn’s exhibition dedicated to celebrating the female form. Opening tomorrow, February 15, this week-long experience will showcase a lineup of emerging womxn artists who capture the essence of womanhood through various artistic disciplines. With a free opening night featuring live music, an open bar, and a community art activity, this exhibition is not just about viewing art—it’s about fully engaging in the experience of self-love and empowerment.

One of the featured artists in this show is ColorBloc ambassador Storm Cuff, a Brooklyn-born multidisciplinary artist known for merging photography, videography, painting, and creative direction into powerful, layered narratives. Her work centers the Black and Brown experience, using visual storytelling to challenge conventional media portrayals and amplify the beauty, depth, and complexity of her community.

Storm Cuff’s Featured Works: A Celebration of Black Identity & Power

Storm presents two striking pieces in the exhibition, “Sabwiththecoolwhip” and “Gene’z Black Genez,” both part of her ongoing series Talez of Being a Fly Black Berry. This body of work reimagines Black identity through everyday moments of power, confidence, and self-expression, reclaiming narratives that often go overlooked. Each painting in this series was inspired by an original photograph taken by Storm, further deepening the storytelling by bridging multiple artistic disciplines.

A striking portrait of self-assurance, “Sabwiththecoolwhip” captures its subject, Sabrina, confidently posed against a vintage car. Her stance is both strong and elegant, embodying a sense of mobility—both literal and symbolic. The car, more than just a prop, represents ownership, movement, and the ability to carve out one’s own path. The interplay of light, shadow, and composition gives the image a timeless quality, reinforcing the enduring strength of Black womanhood.

Storm translated this image into a 36”x48” acrylic painting on canvas, using her brushstrokes to enhance the depth, emotion, and power of the original photograph. This transition from photography to painting allows her to reimagine and elevate the moment, offering a new layer of interpretation and engagement for the viewer.

This piece contributes to a larger cultural conversation about representation and identity. Inspired by the phrase “the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice,” “Gene’z Black Genez” reclaims this adage as a celebration of the richness and complexity of Black identity. The work speaks to the vibrancy and depth of Black culture, challenging monolithic portrayals by offering a more nuanced and dynamic perspective.

Much like “Sabwiththecoolwhip,” this 36”x48” acrylic painting on canvas was first captured as a photograph, then reinterpreted through paint. The layering of mediums emphasizes the importance of these stories—first frozen in time through the camera lens, then transformed into larger-than-life painted works that invite deeper reflection. Through this approach, Storm challenges the way Black life is typically portrayed, offering images that celebrate joy, resilience, quiet power, and unapologetic individuality.
