Watch Now: Fashion Designer Fikile Sokhulu Speaks on Her Collection at SA Fashion Week



This year's SA Fashion Week, which was held at the Mall of Africa in Johannesburg, featured Fikile Zamagcino Sokhulu, a South African clothing brand by Durban-based designer Fikile Sokhulu. The designer studied at Durban University of Technology and graduated in 2018 with a National Diploma in Fashion Design. In 2018, a collection was presented at South African Fashion Week as part of Durban University of Technology rise of the oxx show. Brand Fikile Sokhulu presented a collection for 2018 and 2021 South African Fashion week New Talent Search Competition as a finalist.

We caught up with Fikile after her collection was shown on the runway. She gave us some insights into her collection, the importance of collaboration, and more.

The designer studied at Durban University of Technology and graduated in 2018 with a National Diploma in Fashion Design. In 2018, a collection was presented at South African Fashion Week as part of Durban University of Technology rise of the oxx show. Brand Fikile Sokhulu presented a collection for 2018 and 2021 South African Fashion week New Talent Search Competition as a finalist. Fikile sokhulu was one of fashion designers who showcased at Cape Town resort wear 2019 collections. Her brand collaborated with mainstream retailer Mr Price and created a fashion collection which launched at beginning of year 2020.


In 2021, Fikile Sokhulu was one of four South African designers selected for the Fashion Bridges project sponsored by Camera Nazionalle della moda Italiana (Milan Fashion Week), Polimoda Firenze, Lineapelle Fair, South African Fashion Week, Mandela Forum, Italian trade agency and so many more


Her collection African Daisy at this year's South Africa Fashion Week showcase delivers an ethereal experience with what she describes as silhouettes that are soft and organic, resembling an aesthetic of a flower.
